Why We Expanded to Create Elite Helper Academy
For over 20 years, Elite Childcare Consulting has been at the forefront of guiding families in early childhood development. With two decades of experience as an early childhood development consultant and 20 years of living as an expat in Hong Kong, I have worked closely with parents, children, and the incredible domestic helpers who play a crucial role in caregiving.
Throughout my time working in private homes, I have witnessed firsthand the essential role helpers play in the early years of a child's life. Often, they are the primary caregivers, especially during the most critical developmental years (0-3 years old). This is a time when play-based learning, language development, and emotional bonding are vital for shaping a child's future. However, many helpers have had limited access to training in child development and play-based learning, leaving a significant gap in the knowledge and skills that could greatly enhance a child's early experiences.
Recognising this need, we created Elite Helper Academy, a specialised training platform designed to empower and educate domestic helpers in key areas such as:
Child development and understanding critical learning periods.
Play-based learning to foster creativity, problem-solving, and emotional growth.
Sensory play, arts and crafts, and age-appropriate activities to engage young children in meaningful ways.
The importance of reducing screen time and introducing hands-on, engaging alternatives.
In today’s digital age, children are increasingly exposed to screens at younger ages. While technology has its place, hands-on play, rich social interactions, and sensory experiences remain irreplaceable in fostering a child's overall development. By providing the right training, tools, and resources, we can ensure that helpers are equipped to offer young children the best possible start in life.
